Nags Head NC June 2011

I do love the beach and the ocean. I love to swim in the ocean, usually, however lately it seems that when the water is cold I don't go. In the past I used to have to say "come on baby, it's not that bad" to my wife. Now it is the other way around. My beautiful wife goes running as fast as she can, takes a flying leap and dives right in. Well, here is a series of pictures of yours truly trying his hardest just to go in long enough for my wife to get some photos. Oh, she got some photos alright....

Ok baby I will go in so you can get my photo

Oh jeez this is going to be cold

Quick take the picture! What do you mean I have to go out further? Oh maaaan!

Is there anyway I can get out of this, I know I have that shorty dive suit in the shed, should have brought it.

I thought you said it warms up after you been in for a minute or two!!!!

Uh Oh, Whats that, oh no, jeez waves been 5 to 6 inches all day. Why me???

If I start now I can beat that thing in to the beach!

Dang, that sounds like a 30 foot wave coming in, run you fool, ruuuuuun!

It's lapping at my feet and back, oh I feel the cold right up my spine.

I did it, I out ran that monster of a wave, and the cold!

Survived! I am so happy!

Starting to Post again

Hello everyone, Thanks for visiting my blog posts. Sorry for the delay in posting more pictures. Been pretty busy lately but thats not a real excuse. I will start the posting again a little later today.

My sweetheart and I went on a little trip to Nags Head on the outer banks in North Carolina. Now I know that its a bad place to take a good camera due to the sand and salt but extra care was taken to prevent any damage to the camera's.

It was a great trip, my baby really had a great time. We got some body boards and road those massive waves. My poor baby was so happy to be in the ocean she had forgotten the golden rule of never turn your back to the ocean. The funny thing is that the water was flat, waves at about 8 inches high until she turned her back, LOL, this wave of about 2 to 3 foot high comes rolling in. I tried to warn her but too late. Poor thing has a big bruise one her back from where she hit the bottom.

On the second morning my baby woke up and said she smelled smoke, this was about 2 am, I was still sleepy and told her yes I know, but there is nothing to worry about, but for the life of me I could not remember why until in the morning when I remembered reading about a fire caused by a lighning strike earlier that week. When I walked out side I noted that the wind had changed direction and was blowing the smoke from the mainland to the outer banks. The news said if you do not need to go outside don't, the air is in code red. We looked out the window and could not even see the ocean, the smoke was so thick it blocked the view. We decided to head back home earlier than planned due to the advancing thunder storms and the smoke. By the time we left, about 10 am, the wind had changed directions again and the smoke cleared up but the thunder storms had moved in.

I will be posting those pictures along with the stories. Yes, I am going to try my hand at writing. After being a tecnical writer for so long I find it a little difficult to convert back to story telling. With that said, any suggestions or assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Criticism is always welcome. None will be taken personally.

Please feel free to post your comments.

Lizzard Love

Took these photos while at our property, these two lizzards were in the middle of mating when I came upon them.

This is when he openly got mad at me and started hissing at me, I was a good 20 feet away at the time

I guess I didn't really bother him that much

This is after, now he is wispering sweet nothings into her ear

and she agree's

now for a quick bite to eat, they left after this photo
Like I said I was about 20 to 30 feet away, these two were about a foot in length, thats including thier tails.
They were huge, I know if I were to pick one up they would be longer than my hand, thier body only, not including tail, would have taken up my hole hand.

Misty Morning

I try to always have a camera ready for those moments that we just happen upon. While visiting family a little south of Buffalo, NY I woke up one morning and looked out the window to see this site. The camera I used was one of my first digital cameras. I don't even remember what camera it was.

Richmond VA, Saturday

We decided to take a trip to Richmond VA and as my lady was shopping and thrifting I stepped outside the store to find two young ladies drawing on the side walk with chalk. It turns out that an organization was handing out the chalk and anyone was able to do the same. Here are some of the drawings  and  yes one that I did also.

Yes, even the puppies got to draw

The other side of Occoquan

Springtime is fantastic, beautiful warm day in a great little town. We walked and shopped for about three hours. The shops here have a wide variety of items, art, beads, antiques and jewelry. They are also the host to one of Virginia's finest Art and Craft shows every spring and fall. There are many little area's that one can sit and enjoy the weather, scenery or contimplate on your favorite subject, no matter what the subject.

I hope that you can find the time to come visit for a great relaxing day.

Another Side of Occoquan

As we strolled through Occoquan I noticed the other side, the side few people seem to take real notice to. Here is a first in a series that I will be posting in the next few days.

Tree that grew into the fence

Foot Bridge, almost can get two of my feet on it.
